Art Salon
Featuring: Richard Langston, Jenny Bornholdt, Sarah Maxey, Phil Railton-Jacks, Justin Firefly Clarke, Ryan Prebble
For those who may not know what an Art Salon is. It's definitely not about quirky hairdos. Though it could be. An Art Salon is “an intimate experience for the audience to engage with prominent and thought-provoking guests on a variety of art-related topics.”
Traditionally, dating back to Enlightenment France, a salon was a room in a house where usually, a lady, would receive her guests and in an atmosphere free from the stifling constraints of society and frivolous gossip, the art of conversation would be refined in thought-provoking discussions about the latest developments in art, science, music, literature and more.
This Thursday night we will be featuring six artists – poets, visual artists and musicians - from the FRIDA DAVID LIVES HERE exhibition, at our very first Art Salon at KISSS.
Each artist will present us with some of his or her work and tell us a bit about themselves, their backgrounds, their work, what motivates them to do what they do, perhaps themes they are exploring, problems they are grappling with, ideas they are fascinated with, and invite you to ask questions, give feedback, discuss, even share some of your own work! (Feel free to bring something to show and tell if you'd like! A photograph, illustration, song, poem, sculpture, dress... a piece of your art)
Or just come and join the festivities and casual conversation!
Common Sense Organics will be sponsoring us and we will get to indulge in delicious salmons, cheeses, fruits and wine.
