Monty Python's Spamalot

Papakura Theatre Company proudly presents the Auckland premiere of Monty Python's Spamalot, a new musical lovingly ripped from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

This irreverent, funny and colourful musical comedy tells the legendary tale of King Arthur’s quest to seek out the Holy Grail. Travelling with his faithful servant Patsy, Arthur recruits several knights along the way, meets beautiful dancing girls and comes across such oddities as a flatulent Frenchman and killer rabbits.

Spamalot sends up musical theatre itself - the characters dreaming of being in a Broadway show! With a plea to “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life!” the show reaches a happy ending!

Monty Python’s Spamalot won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005 and became a huge hit on Broadway. A year later, when the show opened in London at The Palace Theatre, the reviewer in The Sunday Times UK concluded that it “raises silliness to an art form!”

With book, lyrics and music written by Eric Idle and music by John du Prez, Spamalot brings back the much loved humour of the “Pythons” early days.

This exciting Auckland Premiere is directed by Adey Ramsel, who successfully set up the professional Caught Jesters Theatre Company in 2003.   Musical Director for Spamalot is Pukekohe-based music teacher Scott McDowall and Choreographer Vanessa Hales is adding to the mix of music and comedy.

Suitable for most ages (well, say from 10 to 100?), Spamalot is full of absolutely crazy fun and laughter!

Book through Ticketek – all seats at The Hawkins Theatre have a very good view of the stage and the theatre is close to the Southern Motorway off-ramp at Papakura.
