Taste the victory at Capital E
Whether you know your up-and-over from your grubber, or the shape of a rugby ball is a mystery to you, this is one rugby event everyone can enjoy!
Mum, dad, the kids and even gran won’t be able to resist becoming the star player and running to the try line in the closing moments of a nail-biting final. With a little bit of help from Capital E’s greenscreen technology they’ll be transported into a stadium so real they'll hear the roar of the crowd.
Capital E’s Director, Stuart Grant explains, “Players will find themselves four points down with a minute on the clock and a whole host of opposition players thundering down on them before they dive over the try line! It’s going to be a unique experience that everyone can get involved in during this exciting time in Wellington”.
Legendary commentator Ken Laban will be cheering people on as they dodge, duck and sprint towards the try zone before soaring into rugby history. No need to worry about grass stains – off-screen they’ll be landing on a specially designed mat.
Players can relive their winning feat again on the big screen with the clever high-tech recording uploaded online or available on a USB stick to take home.
The try with the most public votes at the end of each week will go into the final to be judged by a panel and the overall Give It A Try Champion will win a personalised jersey for themselves and four of their best friends.
Give It A Try is part of the REAL New Zealand Festival and Wellington Carnivale. Capital E is managed by the Wellington Museums Trust with major funding support from Wellington City Council.
