Theatre practitioner support programme for Wellington

Wellington now has a support programme for independent theatre practitioners, which will include support for companies, one-to-one professional development planning consultations, seminars around developing sustainable practice, facilitating a producers group to explore issues key to independent producers and general sector development work. Creative producer Briar Monro will be piloting the project from now until July 2008.Briar will also work with a reference group of key stakeholders to strengthen links between the project and practitioners/organisations and to provide a strategic overview for the development of future theatre practitioner support in Wellington.

The project has been funded by CNZ and Wellington City Council and has been made possible with the support of Playmarket and other organisations and individuals committed to creating fertile environments for theatre making.

This project came about through research into the current needs of the Wellington theatre sector and was backed up by observations at the recent BSide Forum.

If you are a theatre maker and interested in being part of this project, or if you would like any further information, then please contact Briar on briarmonro@clear.net.nz.
