A bit about

Hi! I've been making electronic music since 1999. My main musical philosophy centres around a playful kind of synthesizer pop with filmic and computery overtones.

I began with releasng CD-Rs on Zine distros and free mp3 releases, and I've put out 8 CD albums, one cassette and a single on Atari 2600 cartridge.

After a youth spent watching a lot of television and spending a lot of time with my Commodore 64, I began releasing songs made with free software music-tracker Jeskola Buzz in the 1990s. I found the practice of working with computers, plugins and free software the most direct, participatory way to make electronic music. In the electronic world, the consumptive, lock-in models of hardware and the essentialistic notions attached to vintage audio gear are a huge barrier to actual music making.

Live I've toured NZ over a dozen times, Europe three times and one coast-to-coast tour of the USA, racking up over 200 shows.

Visual-wise I work very closely with #1 video guy Simon Ward www.siward.tv, and illustrator / sculptor / visionary Don Brooker - http://donbrooker.blogspot.com. Videos viewable here: www.youtube.com/Disasteradio

In October 2010 I released my 8th album "Charisma" as pay-as-you-like / free mp3 on bandcamp. I find the potential for music in a post-record-industry age is really super exciting, and I believe the quicker we can end this gamey, un-artistic, boring set of orthodoxies attached to music, the better.

Big Idea

To play music all around the world, and share my music and stupid imaginings with everyone in an honest and fun way!
