Arte Povera (Italia)
A style of minimal art originating in Italy in the late sixties making use of cheap and commonly available materials deliberately chosen for their worthlessness.
A reaction against the commercialization of the art world.
- Big Idea
The Big Idea this year is to keep using worthless materials i.e. sheep manure to make slinkies (lambs) from my black sheep.
Keep developing Monowai Station.
Keep knitting beanies & berets from homespun wool.
Doing the Uni markets to share my wares.
Writing a Sheep Zine
Lots of drawing and learning how to bake scones and sugar buns in my spare time.
I am gifting beanies & berets to various people who I think have an interesting story to share -
I type them a note something like this:
Hey Gaston,
My quest is to find the answer asked by a shepherd in 1952 :
"Who teaches pet lambs what they never had a mother to teach them - where to find the sweetest grass - the best shelter in winter and shade in summer?"
The idea is to put these stories into a "talking couch project".
Enclosed with the beanie is a self addressed envelope
It is my way of my keeping my work going while I am working in a bakery...
The best white conceptual space in South D.
