- A bit about
A graduate from London's Middlesex University, Laura has been working as a freelance Director and Assistant Director on a variety of small to mid-scale theatre, radio and film projects in the UK before her recent move to Wellington.
Previous UK projects include work with LOST Theatre Company, Camden Fringe Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Ten in a Bed Theatre Company, Tin Can Podcast Productions, The Garden Opera Company, Thieving Dingos Theatre Company and Howard Barker's The Wrestling School.
Aside from directing, Laura co-founded and runs a regular script development and networking event called Page to Stage for the UK's theatre network organisation, Artists Anonymous, currently housed at the Battersea Arts Centre. Before turning to directing, she worked as a project manager and arts administrator for various national and international theatre, music and opera companies.
Laura's current devised project is in R&D, and will hopefully be produced as part of the 2012 Wellington Fringe Festival.
- Big Idea
Laura's particular interest is in making theatre that is 'theatrical' and non-realistic, and encouraging new writing in this vein. She enjoys physical and ensemble work as well as bringing out poetry and specificity in writing.
