- A bit about
Takumi Motokawa is a New Zealand-based composer/percussionist/pianist who graduated from New Zealand School of Music. He performed a reworked version of “The Passenger” on the marimba with Iggy Pop in the Orcon Internet ad series in 2009. Currently he is one of the core members of Strike Percussion - a high energy drumming group made up of New Zealand's most outstanding percussionists, specialising in movement-based, choreographed percussion.
He has been living in Wellington for the last four years with trips to Japan, Australia, China, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong to perform. A versatile and prolific performer and composer, Takumi is currently working on collaborations with various Wellington musicians including a new band called “The Good Words” (www.myspace.com/thegoodwordsnz) due to begin recording this year.
