The Psychs - Roaches [EP]
The Psychs are an alternative rock band formed in 2010 in Auckland, New Zealand. The band consists of ex-Electric Confectionaires member Jaisi Sheehan (vocals, keys, guitar), Johnny Lyon (lead guitar), Simon Davenport (electric bass) and Luke Scott (drums). Songwriter Sheehan's brand of quirky pop was an instant hit with fans and critics, with demo versions of 'Roaches' & 'Gee I' both enjoying lengthy stays at the top of Auckland student radio station 95bFM's Top Ten charts.
The Psychs' debut 4-track EP 'Roaches' was released on March 9th, 2011. It includes rerecorded versions of 'Roaches' and 'Gee I' as well as 'Wanna Do' and 'Blanks'. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Andrew Brereton, who also recorded the band's earlier demos. The band opted for a lo-fi, 60s sound, experimenting with Motown recording techniques.
