a flowering of peaks and troughs

a concern for negative space, and (formally speaking) an opportunism in terms of light/ peaks and troughs.. -tension between the apparently squat and robust base and the dynamism of the concertina-like forms which issue from it, twisting and protruding into space in a multi-directional manner. sense of struggle and awkwardness bound, over time, into an overall grace and solidity. communicating how the process of torment and mutability/change can also be somewhat brutal, massive and monumental when viewed as a whole.- brutal but not dense or rigid. monumental and massive, but despite its contortion, bought to a kind of rest or denouement, almost elegance.- challenging and unusually masculine- truth over beauty. -angular and mechanical expression of binaries becomes re-embodied into a suggestion of human muscle- not as a vulgar and simple depiction of latter, but as the suggestion of force. dark contrasts on the interchanging surfaces. this is a sort of visual poetry where form does not just mirror content but is content.
