Age and Time; Stamp pad
Lockets; sentimental keepsakes. Worn close, they hold memories. Seasons change, we age and time passes. Stories are created and retold, places are visited and objects collected that evoke nostalgia. Senses trigger recollection, traditions pass between generations like heirlooms.
I come from two
families, market gardeners
and orchardists.
It is in my nature to make things grow.
One in a series of six lockets. A collaboration between jewellery artist Chris Granshaw and artist Mary Whalley.
Locket and chain: copper, 9ct gold, peanut oil patina, varnish and wax finish.
Contents: custom made rubber stamp on wood with gold chain and felt ink pad.
On view from 19 March 2010 at the new FrontRoom Gallery, 12 Wesley St, Pukekohe.
