"K.I.S.S" by Jo Pervan
"K.I.S.S." represents an organic natural form, relating to two entities both requiring eachother to exist, meshed and molded together. Keep-it-simple-stupid was a personal guide for me to stick to my original path, the direction and intention on the outset of the initial strike, to capture and complete the original idea, as well as -kiss- or to kiss, and the moment and space of impact when and where two people meet physically and emotionally. The two entities are defined by the large crevice, and the emotions are depicted in the freeform lines carved into defined sections of the sculpture.
Hinuera stone is a volcanic ignembrite of varying consistency, from soft through to hard stone requiring diamond tools to work it. Usually a honey coloured rock, often with very pale sections streaked with rust coloured smokey patterns.
