'Turn Over a New Leaf'
Statement on 'Turn Over A New Leaf':
A leaf penetrated by the sun shows shadows of veins alongside luminous, vibrant cells. This work brings depth to the 'common leaf' by layering hand carved media over canvas. Light and shadow play through the work, giving it 3D energy & movement. There is metaphor in its surface texture & multiple strata; in its eaten opaque outer shell and light interior.

Inspired & passionate about art, I practice its creation full time. With a studio in Christchurch, an education in Toronto & a history between the two, I dedicate myself towards the expression of an inner vision. I'm addicted to working with different media: acrylic forms; carved wood; shaped cane... all towards playing with metaphoric layers. I get a huge kick out of Nature, inspired mostly by organic forms. When creating, I'm focused on an outcome that is both aesthetic & spiritually stimulating.
