'Trail Blazing'
Statement on 'Trail Blazing':
I wan't to push my boundries with this work, to create a piece that held an internal world of its own. This artworks' elements hold tension within the piece, rather than externally & draws the viewer to a contained landscape of shadow play.
I really enjoy cavities/vessels/caves & the mysterious subconscious they embrace. This work has traces of both sea creatures & deep space structures. From sea pods & tentacles to astroid belts & worm holes. The shield like outer shell is simultaneously aggressive & protective. I enjoyed working on this scale, with such volume and heaviness while staying organic.
Height: 175cm
Materials: Hand carved acrylic rod, blown acrylic dome, painted wood support.

Inspired & passionate about art, I practice its creation full time. With a studio in Christchurch, an education in Toronto & a history between the two, I dedicate myself towards the expression of an inner vision. I'm addicted to working with different media: acrylic forms; carved wood; shaped cane... all towards playing with metaphoric layers. I get a huge kick out of Nature, inspired mostly by organic forms. When creating, I'm focused on an outcome that is both aesthetic & spiritually stimulating.
