Springtime

'Springtime' is a woolly installation which we hope you will enjoy.

It consists of three flower garlands made from crocheted pink flowers sewn onto bright green strands of wool made with a knitting nancy (or cotton reel as some might remember it).

Each flower garland is about 4m long and is twined around individual trees at Tauranga's Red Square , down at the Strand. Originally there where individual flowers attached to the benches beneath the trees.

These flowers disappeared quickly which was anticipated and part of the plan of this knit tag.

The floral spring theme was chosen to co-incide with the beginning of Tauranga's Garden and Art Fest.

After a long time of thinking about it, we finally decided to bring the world of yarn bombing, knit grafitti, guerilla knitting or whatever people might call it to Tauranga, New Zealand.
We're inspired by all those wonderful like-minded craftivists out there who have been gently tagging away. Turning craft that some might think of as near exstinct into street art.
Crafts are alive. And now they're kicking their way into the streets of Tauranga.

    Warm and woolly regards,

    your Craft Bomber Association
