Well, I am a little Maori Girl who's dad is from Waipiro Bay & mum from Dunedin. I enrolled in a foundation of visual arts course at Waiariki Polytech in Rotorua roughly 20 years ago but unfortunatly only completed the first of the three years. (The thought 'young & dumb' comes to mind) In that first year I started creations of bone carving which I absolutley enjoyed, made clay sculptures & dabbled in printing & Harakeke. I have always felt my artistic urges wanting to be expressed. Now in my 40's (older & wiser) I attended a Stained Glass Course & feel comfortable with this medium. I have started on small things and am slowly working up to bigger pieces. My crafts have come in the designs of body anatomy/forms, windchimes, birds, & lamp shades, but now I feel the need to create a reflection of my Maori heritage & have chosen a Maori Tiki to start. It does not interest me to make money on items I create as they seem destined to end up with their rightful owners.
