Seven Sisters

These seven sisters represent the plejades and were made for the Matariki celebration 2009 at Origin Kerikeri
They are made of local grown wool from gotland sheep. The bodies are full needle felted, the wraps are wet felted, enhanced with peahen feathers.

Ilse SeidelI am passionate about colour and fibres. I love to paint not only with paint on canvas but I am also "painting" with handdyed wool on fabric, I create sculptures by needle felting of wool. I love to experiment with unusual combinations of fibres and I especially love the combination of modern and old technique as well as unusual combinations of materials. There are so many possibilities.
I am addicted to taking photos, the camera is my 3rd eye, nature has done it all before........
