You've Got Company, 2008
Many old family photos make us think of our genetic connections with things and people of the past. New Zealand is a new country, populated by humans relatively recently by world standards. This boy, featured in this photo, has Ngapuhi ancestry, links with the indigenous people of New Zealand. What if he had genetic links with the indigenous fauna of New Zealand and somehow the photographer accidentally captured evidence of this link, in this case a bird (like a ghost) on the sitter's hat, he is completely unaware of.
