loquat and ginger jar
Late winter loquats from a rainy St Peters in Sydney (I 'appropriated' a branch while attending a gallery opening), and a ginger jar.
I thought the ginger jar was quite complimentary to the 'oriental' nature of the loquat. The ginger jar has survived many house and even a country move since buying it from a country fete in Berkshire, UK.
This painting will be shown at the 33rd annual Plunket art show at the Aigantighe Art Gallery, Timaru in June 2010.
Watercolour and pencil on Saunders Waterford paper.
Dimensions: 39 cm wide x 57cm high

Born and raised in Auckland, I have been an exhibiting artist since 1987, working from NZ, the UK and Australia where these days I call Sydney home. Originally trained in ceramics, I now work in paper, fabric and beads though I like to think my love of colour and shape is evident in current work.
Like most artists I have a day job, my studio is the kitchen table but I still dream.
