Masked Safari

This series of painting is about the stereotypes that get put upon countries and the people that inhabit them. These stereotypes become like masks obstructing the truth and reality of the people, creating false identities and expectations from people.  My inspiration came from questions asked of me from my travels throughout East Africa and Northern India. People would often ask me more about the animals that I saw the safaris I went on through my travels than anything else.  Although I did encounter a range of animals from camels through to hippos what struck me the most was the people.
