Areograph Showreel Oct 2010
This video contains a bunch of 3D scenes which have been procedurally generated (e.g. not manually modeled) from nothing but a set of photos.
This process is divided into two main parts. The first step is to turn the photos into a pointcloud, which is very similar to what you would get back from laserscanning an object or environment.
We then use this pointcloud as the underlying mesh onto which the photos are added back in. The result is a fully photo-realistic environment that has been created from nothing but photos.
If you are interested in trying out this process for your self, the first part (creating a pointcloud) can be done for free at our online photo-to-pointcloud service: www.areoscan.com
