CCD practitioner, painter, illustrator, and video artist. Art tutor in Rimutaka and Wellington Prisons and at Toi Whakaari.
Paul has had a love for drawing and art ever since he can remember. He exhibits artworks regularly, has performed live animations at numerous festivals and events nationwide, and has had international exposure with his video work screened in Japan and throughout Europe. His illustration has been published locally and internationally. Paul’s drawings have featured in magazine editorials, art books, album covers, billboards and posters, art and design magazines and on numerous online art and design portals. He has recently produced animations for The New Zealand School of Dance's Sketch performance.
As a tutor, Paul has a strong interest in working with artists who are on the fringes of our society. He has worked with artists with physical and intellectual disabilities at Panacea (now Spark Studios), as well as working with artists at Pablos Art Studios who have experienced mental illnesses. Paul currently runs art classes at Rimutaka Prison and Wellington Prison. He also tutors regularly at Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School and in the past he has tutored at Massey University in Wellington.
Paul is also interested in collaborative projects and working with community. Recent projects include a community mural project, and a collaborative community project exploring biculturalism in Te Whanganui-ā-Tara.
