MIXED NUTS

Come Play with some crazy coconuts who are really a mixed bunch of nuts!

Mixed Nuts is LIMA Dance Productions wacky coconut take on FRINGE. Featuring live interactive performances. Wander into the Mangere Arts Centre and see how we like to play.
Be serenaded as you enter by our very own Singing exhibition, the Dusky Maidens. Watch out for interactive Monkeys, who love to get into mischief with people! Two dynamic young Contemporary Dances breakout around you, i.e. Missing You and Young Love. LIMA performers love to surprise, so who knows what might happen!
In the Green room you will be asked to ‘pardon’ the three Tongan prisoners, ‘Sai e’, as they perform their comedy skits; think of it as Tonga meets ‘Chicago’. In the Theatre Hip-Hop breaks the ground., featuring VOGUE.
After an hour of interactive play we have the LIMA Dance Theatre company who will perform their fresh off the block Dance/Physical Theatre piece ‘Take That’, which has been largely inspired by the International Dance Theatre company DV8. It’ll keep audience members on their toes as they tell the fresh and funky story of four young Samoan students in their last year of school through Hip-Hop, Contemporary dance, Singing and great Physical Theatre.
So look out for the odd, the weird but most of all a great new innovative look for Pacific Theatre, which is definitely young and freshly Pacific!

'Hands' in Samoan is our natural way of expressing ourselves with our bodies when we communicate.

Many of our dances and movement are derived from gestures and motifs we make when communicating with our hands.

Lima dance Production is a non-profit organisation that actively supports, encourages, mentors, advises and develops trained emerging Pacific Island Performing Artists. Lima also provides performance platforms and opportunities for these artists to gain more experience in diverse performing fields and innovative shows. Lima has a foundation based on creating work that is about breaking down social and cultural barriers people have about theatre and the 'Arts' being an elite form of entertainment. It is about reaching out to the everyday people, in particular our Pacific communities, in New Zealand to tell stories through dance and theatre in a more natural and accessible way so as to make the stories clear, fun, moving and in touch with the community.

It is also about breaking down the barrier between dance and theatre. It incorporates many different dance forms e.g from Contemporary, Hip Hop, Break dancing and traditional Samoan Siva is weaved in and out of their stories.

Lima Productions main market focus is our PACIFIC youth and families. Using dance and theatre to perform stories that they can relate to have fun with and be moved by. While also feeling that they have a right to view 'Art' for arts sake and not only as a tool for giving them a social message.
