Bikes for Africa - Documentary Promo
Bikes for Africa is a documentary currently in production, following young adventurers Hap Cameron & Mandy Todd and their attempt to take a shipping container full of secondhand donated bikes to a remote community in northern Namibia.
Hap and Mandy depart Melbourne, Australia on June 7th, 2011 and will attempt to cycle 5000km's across southern Africa to meet the container and help implement it in the Namibian community of Katima Mulilo. The two have teamed up with charities Bicycles for Humanity (Melbourne) and Bicycle Empowerment Network (BEN) Namibia, and with the support of their community, friends and family, are working towards raising the AUD $12,000 to ship the container to Africa.
When completed, Bikes for Africa will share their travel experiences and discover what happens to the donated bikes and how they change the lives of rural Namibians.
Bikes for Africa is directed independent New Zealand filmmaker Richard Sidey and is expected to be released in early 2012.
