Natalie Britten's Candy Portraits!
My inspiration comes from painting portraits of unsuual expressions with bright colours. I want to create a range of portraits that are so aesthetically pleasing, they give you the shiver down the spine feeling, like when you see something extremely beautiful.
The expressions range from - a sneeze, a yawn, sad-clown, happy clown, panic, happiness... and the colours used will enhance the features of the face and make the expression itself stand out a lot more.
I'm also taking pictures throughout the process of painting, to put together a visual timeline of how the portraits developed, to give an insight into watching the painting 'come to life'.
Its a long process, and it usually takes me about a year to become happy with how the portrait has turned out - and even then, I may feel that it needs more work/touch ups.
I hope to have these on display by April of 2012.
P.S: if you think you have an expressive face, please feel free to send me a picture, and I may just paint it and include it in the exhibition! Pictures can be emailed to: natalie@nataliebritten.com
