b>side magazine
We are looking for short story submissions for the upcoming issue of b>side magazine.
b>side is a black and white nationally-distributed music magazine, dedicated solely to New Zealand music. We offer a diverse range of topics and music styles, investigating New Zealand music’s past as well as its present and future.
We present in-depth feature stories, music news, creative photography and design spanning almost every conceiveable music genre, plus those whose work or interests overlap into the music field. b>side also gives well-deserved attention to musicians and artists largely ignored by the mainstream press.
b>side is a magazine for New Zealand musicians to meet and talk freely about their work and their lives. The format provides the freedom to work in an experimental way, with no hardened policy for inclusion or exclusion, but rather a forum-style format that allows the artist/musician to reveal more of themselves than they would in a typical interview. The result being a magazine that gives the reader engaging stories that share an insight into the art of these influential artists, the process of creating music and a look into those who are responsible for its prominence in New Zealand culture.
Our fundamental aim is to share the mysteries of music and musicians in New Zealand with readers who are interested in the nature of music. We are an independent operation making this magazine because we love and want to support the New Zealand music industry. We are a non-profit publisher, we give the magazine away for free so we are unable to pay for stories, but it's an opportunity for a budding young writer to get their work published.
There is an online link to the magazine where you can view the last two issues: www.bsidemagazine.blogspot.com or via www.myspace.com/bsidemagazine
We are currently in production of our third issue and would love to hear from anyone who may be interested in writing a short piece of fiction on the subject of music for the next issue. If you are interested please contact us as soon as possible with your ideas. We are going to print at the end of the month so would love to hear from you soonest
thanks, Fiona
