Skills for Social Entrepreneurs
Skills for Social Entrepreneurs is a large-scale
global project initiated by the British Council with the aim of
identifying and training existing or potential social entrepreneurs.
>>>
A global programme to help
fledgling social entrepreneurs around the world attract investment and
create successful businesses is being launched by the British Council.
The
Skills for Social Entrepreneurs programme aims to reach 10,000 people
in 1,000 communities and 100 institutions across the UK and in east
Asia, China and south east Europe through international learning and
networking.
It will also identify and develop social venture
funds to help social entrepreneurs find start-up money and aims to
create partnerships across the public, private and third sectors, with
particular emphasis on follow-up support at a country level.
The
British Council, which promotes British culture and is supported by the
government, launched the programme following a successful pilot in
collaboration with British Council China and the China Social
Entrepreneur Foundation, which ended in March 09.
A
spokesman for the British Council said: ‘We will invest in a new
generation of job-creators - entrepreneurs who work both for their own
welfare and that of their communities. We'll work with voluntary
organisations to establish international links, non-governmental
organisations to find new ways to address business challenges,
entrepreneurs needing support for their ideas, corporate social
responsibility managers looking for ways to make impact with their
investments and investors looking for innovative ideas.'
