Untitled print series
These works are created using the same techniques and figure ground relation experiments as created by Gordon Walters. I am interested in the way Walter’s began his investigation using the images of canoes on water, not the iconic Koru which many people claim. I am also interested in the way cultural symbols function in New Zealand art, and the continued debate over the appropriate use of Taonga like the Koru. I am interested in the way many artists cash in on this New Zealand imagery.
