The Craft Bomber Association Doorknob Award of Excellence

The Craft Bomber Association has emerged only recently in the Bay of Plenty. We are inspired by all those fabulous like-minded craftivists out there who have been trying to make the world a warmer and fuzzier place. A world were craft is taken to another level and turned into something special to be enjoyed by everyone out in the streets. That is, as long as people leave the woolen tags up which not always happens. That is however part of being a yarn bomber as we have already experienced.

The Craft Bomber association has only just started its work in Tauranga. The first craft bomb was placed about one week ago. Unfortunately it was taken down less than 24 hrs after installation. We still consider it a success though and the next 'bomb' is in the making. Check our blog for photos and more.

In the meantime, we have started 'The Craft Bomber Association's Doorknob Award of Excellence'.

There are a lot of interesting, inspiring, amazing, fabulous and simply awesome people in the Bay of Plenty. The Craft Bomber Association will seek and find these individuals or groups and will award them with a specially made doorknob or door handle cosy. We will then post it on our blog with a reason for the award. We are open to suggestions with accompanying explanation why someone should receive this award. We will however maintain the right to decide if the nominee will receive an award or not.

The first Doorknob Award has been made and will be revealed very soon. So stay tuned in to find out who will find their doorknob covered in a cosy.

After a long time of thinking about it, we finally decided to bring the world of yarn bombing, knit grafitti, guerilla knitting or whatever people might call it to Tauranga, New Zealand.
We're inspired by all those wonderful like-minded craftivists out there who have been gently tagging away. Turning craft that some might think of as near exstinct into street art.
Crafts are alive. And now they're kicking their way into the streets of Tauranga.

    Warm and woolly regards,

    your Craft Bomber Association
