PASSAGE

The Passage
The Longest Journey by Ana Maria Pacheco.
The Longest Journey by Ana Maria Pacheco.

Passage is a multi-media new theatre work which was first inspired by a life sized boat sculpture THE LONGEST JOURNEY from Brazilian artist Ana Maria Pacheco.

The text was first commissioned by the British Arts Council in 2002 as the writer Fiona Graham was deciding to migrate to New Zealand. She became fascinated by the stories of mothers and daughters who had been forced to leave their land.

The project has had a long development process with a STAMP workshop, a reading at Auckland Art Gallery and a week in The Herald as part of the Doubleshot Development initiative at The Edge to develop performance vision. The director is Lauren Jackson, designer Stephen Bain and sound by Andrew MacMillan.

The actors are Rachel Nash, Antonia Stehlin, Donogh Rees and Lavinia Uhila. This performance weaves beautiful images with text, film, sound and physical theatre. Do come to see! The season is from November 11th-20th at The Herald.
