Pack of Girls - Getting Started
On Sunday Black Box Theatre took over the Old Library in Whangarei to start casting their inaugural tour - Pack of Girls by David Geary.
The Director of the company, Sarah Boon, has always been clear that she wanted to hold open auditions to see who could come out of the woodwork - and this certainly paid off. There were many new faces that came along and lots of faces and connections from other theatre companies in town.
The audition panel, made up of Gayle Dowsett (Producer), Sarah Boon (Director) and Brian Satterfield (Reader) was likened to that of American Idol when actors walked into the space. But if there were any nerves, they were quickly put to the side when the panel made sure that the auditionees were made to feel comfortable, and laughs quickly ensued.
It was a long, crazy day and by 4pm we could've cast the play three times over.
We are now at callback stage to make sure we can get the best chemistry on stage.
Watch this space ...
