Eating the elephant | getting started

DML| my new logo

My father has a saying - how do you eat an elephant?  Simple. One bite at a time. Just chew fast.

So I have decided my elephantine project is to take my work to London and sell my socks off. I'm prepared to go public and share my journey.

So chewing fast begins here

  1. costing and budget to get there, stay there, take stock there and bring stock home
  2. renewing my brand - thanks to Louise Kellerman I have a new design
  3. building an international presence - my etsy and ravelry plans
  4. continuing to build my reputation
  5. sell my socks off in NZ to fund getting there
  6. try some creative approaches to raising funds

So item #2 is underway and leads into #3. How the rest of my journey goes - who knows - but I'll do my best to keep you posted [warts and all]

Its not just about fashion. I live a life surrounded by textile - in particular wool. Its in my room, in my car, on my desk at work... Designing handknits and selling them is not my sole source of survival but it is what I love. I'm lucky that this love is supported by other things that I love, including working for The Big Idea and also helping to facilitate the careers of emerging artists. I feel truly blessed.
