Fixed-term cover for Executive Director

Job description: 

Arts Access Aotearoa is seeking a Director to cover for its Executive Director, who is taking three months maternity leave from 19 October 2009 until 19 January 2010, and job-share two days a week throughout 2010.

There will be a two-week handover starting from 5 October. Applicants must be based in Wellington. The successful applicant should demonstrate the following experience:

• at least five years experience in advocacy and policy work
• at least five years experience in working with the community and  professional arts sectors
• experience heading a non-government organisation
• experience liaising and working with central and local government
• management experience
• experience in budgeting and report writing
• skills in research and developing strategy.

PHASE ONE (three months maternity leave):
The Director will cover all usual duties of the Executive Director. A job description for the Executive Director can be obtained from Sally Goyat.
 
PHASE TWO (two days per week during 2010):
In 2010, Arts Access Aotearoa is seeking someone to job-share the Executive Director role. The successful applicant will liaise with the Executive Director, who reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

The successful applicant will complement the existing Executive Director’s skills with the following key responsibilities:

• contract and relationship development at local and central government level, and with other funders
• supporting the strategic direction of Arts Access Aotearoa. The three strategic priorities are:
     1. advocating for the rights of the sectors that Arts Access Aotearoa represents through policy work
     2. working with mainstream arts organisations on accessible arts practice, and building the capacity   of the community arts sectors through professional development and training
     3. sourcing relevant research that provides evidence of the cultural and artistic needs of the sectors Arts Access Aotearoa works with.
