RESEARCH ASSISTANT (Limited Term Position)
Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery, Napier, is one of New Zealand's leading museums and art galleries with a national reputation for distinctive exhibitions drawn from one of the country’s best museum collections. We are seeking an efficient, professional person to join our collections team on a 6 month limited term to cover parental leave.
The Research Assistant will work with the Access Team Leader to provide research relating to collection items and assist with providing access to the collection.
The successful applicant will have a friendly and cooperative attitude, be flexible and motivated and have good organisational skills. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team and be aware of bi-cultural issues within the museum and art gallery sector.
This is an opportunity to attain valuable collection and registrar experience, based in the heart of Napier, with all the advantages of the Hawke’s Bay lifestyle at your doorstep.
Applicants should have a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably with museum or art gallery experience. Knowledge of Vernon Collection Management System is desirable.

Home to Hawke's Bay's great treasures: Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery is a place of stories, heritage, art and artefacts - a place where visitors can explore New Zealand's vibrant art and cultural history.
The redevelopment project will repackage the exterior to match the wealth within. Our doors will reopen in 2013.
