to the aims and objectives of the Whangarei Film Society.

Categories:

         Primary School age awards: 1st  $150, 2nd  $50

         Secondary School age awards: 1st  $500, 2nd $200, 3rd $100

         Open awards: 1st $600, 2nd $250, 3rd $150

Conditions of Entry:

         Northland resident

         Amateur film-maker

Film profile:

       Format:   DVD+R or DVD-R

         Length:   5 - 8 minutes for both school categories

                        10 - 20 minutes for the Open category

         Subject:  Documentary theme, to have been filmed during the year ending October 2010 and not shown previously in another competition.

         Fees:      $10 for School age categories

                        $20 for Open category

                        Cheques made payable to Whangarei Film Society Inc

         Closes:   Completed forms and fees must be submitted to the Secretary by 30 July 2010.

FILMS:

All DVDs must be completed and sent to the Secretary by 3 October 2010. All films will be viewed by the Whangarei Film Society Committee panel and short-listed for the Awards screenings.
The committee reserves the right to accept or reject entries without comment or explanation if considered below a certain standard for public viewing.

AWARDS EVENT:

Date: Short-listed films will be screened on Sunday 28 November 2010

         Venue: The Captaine Bougainville Theatre, Forum North, Whangarei

         Time: Primary school age category:  1.30 - 3.30pm

                    Secondary school age category: 4 - 6pm

                    Open category:                       7 - 9pm

         Adjudication:   Judging in each category will be by a panel of 3 judges

            Refreshments: Food, soft drinks and wine will be available during the intervals
