DANZ (Dance Aotearoa New Zealand) is the national service organisation for dance and supports dance in all its forms. This position will support regional dance development. We aim to develop industry sustainability through promoting participation, improving access, providing professional development and advocating for the long term growth and health of New Zealand dance.

Duties

Project and Capacity Development
-  Consulting with the dance communities in Dunedin, in order that the work undertaken is in line with community need and demand.
-  Supporting dance and performing arts practitioners and groups through linking them with wider advisory services, including DANZ services.
-  Preparation of funding applications as part of the projects capacity building/development plan.
-  Planning and developing a professional development training programme of forums, seminars and workshops with the DANZ team, to strengthen the skills and identified needs of the local dance and allied performing arts community. This involves locally based and sourced events and supporting workshops in Dunedin which are part of the DANZ national programme e.g. Perfect Performance.
-  Identifying dance development projects where appropriate and finding the partners and funding for these.
-  Developing and maintaining project partners and stakeholders e.g. funders, project tutors, venues, participants.

Communications and Linking
- Creating a sense of community and desire to work together for the strengthening of Dunedin dance.
- Encouraging a flow of information from Dunedin to DANZ and the wider New Zealand dance sector and vice versa, enhancing local visibility and activity. This may include preparing or passing on material for the DANZ website, e-newsletter or DANZ Quarterly magazine, acting as a liaison between DANZ and the community and encouraging the local community to be proactive in their communications.

Representing DANZ
- Promoting DANZ services to the community e.g. the mentoring programme, resources, advisory service, magazine, membership and providing local on the ground advice to DANZ to ensure greater fit of services.
- Preparation of timelines, project plans and promotional material in conjunction with the DANZ team.
- Working with the DANZ team on database and other operational duties to support the local link with national organisations.
- General office duties which may include enquiries, computing, photocopying, office maintenance, processing invoices and running petty cash, hosting guests and clients, overseeing the cleaning and general tidiness of the work venue.

Job specifics:
- Hours of work: 12 hours per week on a casual flexible basis.
- Hours may increase in relation to successful fundraising and capacity building for the project.
- As this is project work some work will take place on weekends or outside of 9am to 5pm by negotiation.
