Job description: 

Te Papa’s Botany team is seeking to appoint a Collections Data Officer to database plant specimens.

The role involves entering specimen, collection, and locality information into Te Papa’s collections’ database for the c. 13 000 plant specimens Te Papa has recently acquired from Victoria University of Wellington.

The term is full-time, fixed for up to 18 months.

Ideal applicants will have:

  • Previous experience with specimen databases.
  • Previous experience with collections of specimens, particularly herbaria.
  • Well developed computer and database operating skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with experience of working as part of a small team.
  • The ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
