Arts Facilitator
Wanganui District Council is strongly committed to supporting arts and cultural activity within the Wanganui District, and building Wanganui’s profile as a leading creative community.
This position reports directly to the Community and Cultural Manager, and has responsibility for implementation of the Wanganui District Council Arts Policy, and the Public Art Strategy.
A key focus of the role is to support:
- Building of Wanganui’s profile as a centre of excellence for arts
- Building of creative capacity within the Wanganui community
- Maximising visitor experience and economic potential from within the arts sector
- Improving access to, and participation in arts activities
- Reflecting Wanganui’s culture through public art.
The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in fine arts or arts management, with proven ability to build constructive and effective relationships in the wider arts and cultural sector. You will be a good project manager, able to access and use resources effectively and efficiently, and to identify and measure critical success factors. Experience and understanding of tikanga Maori is also an essential requirement of this role.
Energy and a strong commitment to working as part of the Council team are vital.
The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in fine arts or arts management.
