Position Objective
The position involves responsibility for the development, management and implementation of Silo’s offline and digital communications relating to the delivery of Silo’s annual season of artistic activity. Primary focuses will be developing and increasing the effectiveness of Silo’s online presence and maintaining and growing our audience database to achieve our audience development and revenue goals. This is a busy hands-on position that provides key external communications functionality within a small and dynamic team.
The person in this role will possess exceptional written and verbal skills and be hard working and highly motivated, demonstrating creative flair and initiative. The ability to work unsupervised, collaborate with others in the team and meet deadlines is critical.
This is a role for someone passionate about the arts, communications and audience development.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
MARKETING PLANNING & IMPLEMENTATION
- Work with the team and external partners/suppliers to produce written annual ‘Marketing & Communications’ and ‘Online Marketing’ plans.
- Make recommendations on the marketing and communications channels Silo should be prioritising to achieve audience development and revenue goals.
- Allocate and manage marketing budgets.
- Coordinate the design, production, distribution and placement of all marketing collateral including advertising and subscription season brochures across print, digital, electronic, online, out-door and venue signage.
- Cultivate and coordinate promotions and cross promotions such as ticket contra for services, competitions and giveaways during season performances.
- Co-ordinate direct marketing campaigns, including all season and show-related mail-outs.
- Coordinate all audience, Patron and Sponsor surveying.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports on marketing and communications activity, including allocated budget spending.
ONLINE MARKETING & DIGITAL CONTENT
- Plan, design and implement digital marketing and promotions initiatives.
- Creation, publishing and distribution of digital content as required, including video, audio, images, text content.
- Maintenance of Silo website including content updates, upgrades and coordination of agreed development projects.
- Create and deploy email marketing communications, reporting on effectiveness and produce recommendations for campaign refinements.
- Manage the Silo social media channels within Silo’s agreed social media policy, including content uploads and monitoring and responding to conversation on the channels.
- Coordinate all paid online media activity, including search and advertising.
- Monitor and produce weekly reports from online analytics tools, including Google Analytics, social media analytics and email management system reporting.
COMMUNICATIONS
- Adhere to and maintain the Silo style guide including revisions to company artwork.
- Manage media sponsorship partners.
- Work collaboratively and diligently with internal colleagues and external suppliers and contractors.
- Co-ordination support for general invitation lists and ticket allocations on opening nights and at special production events.
OFFICE SYSTEMS & PROCESSES
- Manage and maintain all Silo Theatre audience databases.
- Manage and maintain office systems including server filing systems.
- Manage and maintain print and media archives.
GENERAL
- Represent Silo at external meetings as required.
- Represent Silo at all produced events and industry related activities.
- The carrying out of any other duties or tasks as required from time to time by the Executive Director and/ or Artistic Director.
Selection Criteria
- High level of IT literacy and competency (essential)
- Previous experience in marketing planning and budgeting (essential)
- Proven expertise in creating, uploading and distributing digital content, including video, audio, image and text (essential)
- Proven experience in deploying and monitoring online marketing activity, including email campaigns, social media channels and paid online media campaigns (essential)
- Experience in working with website Content Management Systems to manage and upload web content (essential)
- Exceptional writing skills with high level of word processing and publishing literacy (essential)
- Previous experience in arts/ entertainment marketing and understanding of the arts/entertainment sector (desirable)
- Good understanding of audience development and customer relationship management principles (desirable)
- Excel spread sheeting competency (essential)
- Highly organised, with the ability to multi-task
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to follow through and problem-solve
