Museum intern
The Howick Historical Village is an open air museum which runs a volunteer internship prgramme especially suited to those wanting to make museum work their career.
Internships are typically one day a week for a minimum of 6 months. Working with the collections team at the Village you will learn practical museum skills in a hands on environment.
Currently we are looking for someone with an interest in photography to assist with photographing the artefact & art collection for cataloguing purposes. You will receive training in object handling and museum databases.
This voluntary position requires commitment and dedication. an informal interview process and police check are part of the application process.

- Howick Historical Village
Howick Historical Village is an open air museum with 30 heritage buildings furnished with decor and displays highlighting the fencible period of 1840-1880. Costumed villagers are present on Live Days (every third Sunday of the month) and engage in Victorian crafts and pastimes.
Museum staff care for the artefacts which have been donated by the community and range from fabulous Victorian clothing, to military campaign desks with a focus on authentic domestic items. An archive, library and art collection can be researched by appointment. www.fencible.org.nz
Heritage gardens, chickens and rabbits make the village an beautiful relaxing family outing.
