Senior Curator History
This is a rare opportunity to join the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa at a senior level. Reporting to the Collections and Research Group Director, you will have responsibility for a team of Curators and Collection Managers in the History unit of the Collections and Research Group.
The purpose of the role is to support the Director by contributing to the Group’s Senior Team and to ensure the smooth day-to-day management of your team. Your role will involve working closely with the Curators and Collection Managers to strengthen and develop collections, research and scholarship. You must be a consummate professional and confident working at a senior level.
You will:
- be an excellent overall manager with experience of working within a creative environment
- have a strong understanding of curatorial and collection management roles, including experience in a museum or collecting institution
- be a strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture
- be able to participate in the delivery of complex projects in partnership with others, both across the museum’s departments and with external individuals and agencies
- be prepared to contribute to the development and delivery of cross-disciplinary exhibitions, projects and programmes aimed at diverse and cross-generational museum audiences
