An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to support the continuing development of the arts in Wellington by building on the success of this centre of arts activity.

Toi Poneke Arts Centre is located in two buildings at 61-65 Abel Smith Street in central Wellington.  Operated by the Wellington City Council, it consists of thirty artists studios, thirteen leased office spaces and eight different rooms for hire plus an art gallery and a soon to be established arts resource hub.

The purpose of the Manager’s role is to:

  • ensure Toi Poneke Arts Centre facilities and services are aligned with Council’s strategies and priorities
  • provide effective management of Toi Poneke Arts Centre ensuring the facilities are effectively and efficiently run, and the environment is productive, creative and supportive
  • develop business plans and manage budgets to ensure the long term sustainability and success of Toi Poneke Arts Centre

This role includes the management of three staff based at the centre.  Toi Poneke and its staff are part of the City Arts, Nga Mahi Toi o Poneke business unit of the Wellington City Council.
