Costume Co-ordinator
This volunteer role is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves sewing, researching and historical fashion.
The Howick Historical Village is a living museum where costumed people go about daily life and interact with visitors illustrating the 1840-1850 period in NZ.
The wardrobe co-ordinator will assist people in choosing clothes that fit their charcter and period, will research costume, mend costume and source replacment or new items for the wardrobe.
The wardrobe already has a good stock of replica costumes, patterns and accessories as well as a small budget.
One of the key roles is to assist at the village Live Day (the third Sunday of every month) helping around 30 volunteers to access the clothing and accessories. The position requires a minimum of 10 hours a month some of which must be contributed on the Live Day from around 9.30am - 12.
This is a really special opportunity to get involved in the fantastic world of historical fashion. The village has a research library and a textile collection which you will be given special privileges to access.
