Senior Curator Art

This is a rare opportunity to join the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa at a senior level.  Reporting to the Collections and Research Group Director, you will have responsibility for a team of Art Curators and Collection Managers.   

The purpose of the role is to support the Director by ensuring the smooth day-to-day management of the Art team.  This will involve working closely with the Curators and Collection Managers to strengthen and develop collections, research, scholarship, and Mātauranga Māori.  You must be a consummate professional and confident working at a senior level.

You will:
 be an excellent overall manager with experience of working within a creative environment
 provide leadership in conceptual development in art and related areas.
 have a strong understanding of curatorial and collection management roles
 be a strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture
 be able to participate in the delivery of complex projects in partnership with others, both across the museum’s departments and with external individuals and agencies
 be prepared to contribute to the development and delivery of cross-disciplinary exhibitions, projects and programmes aimed at diverse and cross-generational museum audiences
