Senior Curator Art
This is a rare opportunity to join the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa at a senior level. Reporting to the Collections and Research Group Director, you will have responsibility for a team of Art Curators and Collection Managers.
The purpose of the role is to support the Director by ensuring the smooth day-to-day management of the Art team. This will involve working closely with the Curators and Collection Managers to strengthen and develop collections, research, scholarship, and Mātauranga Māori. You must be a consummate professional and confident working at a senior level.
You will:
be an excellent overall manager with experience of working within a creative environment
provide leadership in conceptual development in art and related areas.
have a strong understanding of curatorial and collection management roles
be a strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture
be able to participate in the delivery of complex projects in partnership with others, both across the museum’s departments and with external individuals and agencies
be prepared to contribute to the development and delivery of cross-disciplinary exhibitions, projects and programmes aimed at diverse and cross-generational museum audiences
