Rugby World Cup Project Officer

Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) is the biggest major event to come to New Zealand to date and provides a significant opportunity for Auckland to play host and showcase the region on the international stage. This dynamic and fast-paced role will see you working to develop programmes to ensure Auckland leverages maximum benefit from hosting RWC 2011 and other international major events. The Rugby World Cup Leverage Programmes role is diverse and will develop and deliver community engagement programmes to ensure all Aucklanders have the opportunity to be part of Rugby World Cup 2011, such as sport development programmes, working with youth and schools and adopt a second team initiatives. In addition, the role will work to deliver Aucklands volunteer programme for the event. The position requires significant public event experience along with understanding of the complexity of running a city during a major event. Knowledge of the Auckland event industry and community services sector is also useful. To be successful you need to be able to build strong relationships with crucial stakeholders, be well organised and detail focussed, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Financial knowledge will enable you to help develop and work within budgets. A can-do attitude and commitment to work hard on one event project over a long period is essential.
