The Lifelong Learning team at Auckland Museum welcomes applications from qualified educators, media professionals or community managers who have strong Auckland regional networks and experience in developing educational or programmes based on Pacific art, cultural history and/or contemporary culture. Fluency in at least one Pacific language is required.

The primary focus of the Educator – Pacific is to nurture education and community networks within the greater Auckland region to identify potential partnerships for the development and delivery of learning experiences based on the Museum’s Pacific exhibits and collections.

While a key focus of the role will be on programming for school and tertiary students, the Educator - Pacific will also be actively involved in developing and delivering innovative learning and leisure experiences for family audiences and tourists.

Applicants will have:

• Fluency in at least one Pacific language.
• Tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in Education, Community Development, Social Sciences, Media Studies or other relevant field.
• Well established Pacific networks in the Auckland region and strong relationship building skills.
• Ability to initiate the development and delivery of learning opportunities that increase the relevance of the Museum, its collections and exhibitions to Pacific students and their families.
• Working knowledge and broad familiarity with current trends and events in popular culture, museums, and/or the education sector.
• Strong awareness of New Zealand, Pacific and/or international educational tourism products relating to visitor attractions.

Key skills sought:
