Organisation/person name:
DANZ - Dance Aotearoa New Zealand
Work type:
Casual
Work classification:
Management - Arts
Job description:

Are you passionate about dance and the development of the dance industry in Aotearoa/New Zealand? One way to contribute to the industry is to volunteer as a board or committee member for a dance organisation or company. This is an opportunity to indicate your interest in two ways:

1.  DANZ is seeking business and dance candidates for the DANZ Board as we have some vacancies for 2010 and 2011.

Selection for the DANZ Board is based on:

§        Experience, knowledge and contacts the candidate will bring to the board (e.g. involvement in dance sectors, cultural, legal, communications, sponsorship, strategic development, business)

§        Geographical location

§        The overall breadth of experience and skills in relation to the rest of the Board.

DANZ Board members need to have a broad interest in the performing arts or understanding of dance and the dance industry and be willing and able to think beyond a particular dance genre or sector.

Board Applicants need to be prepared to travel to Wellington up to 3 times a year to attend meetings and also to actively support the work of DANZ. Board Members are volunteers (not paid) but travel and other costs for meetings are covered by DANZ. Vacancies on the DANZ Board arise as current members' terms expire, decisions on new Board members are made by the current Board.

The DANZ Board is comprised of 10 to 12 members reflecting national coverage and the diversity of dance. There is a small Executive (sub committee) of, largely Wellington based, Board members who are more closely associated with on-going management.

2.  DANZ is starting a Register of Interest of people interested in being on dance boards and committees, which we will forward to organisations looking for interested individuals.

Application procedure: Please send us a short CV with your contact details and one page which lists what skills/contacts you would bring to a board or committee, and a short outline of your vision for dance in New Zealand.

Please indicate in your cover letter or E mail  if you wish to put your name forward for

§        the DANZ Board  and/or

§        to be placed on the Register of Interest for consideration on other dance boards and committees
