Lead the PR and communications for one of the Waikato’s largest organisations.

Wintec is one of New Zealand’s leading institutes of technology with a reputation for quality vocational and professional education.  As the Director of Communications you’ll be responsible for ensuring its reputation is protected and enhanced - both nationally and internationally.
 
Reporting to and working closely with the Chief Executive, you’ll lead a small team of passionate, hard-working comms and events professionals to achieve this through sound PR practice.
 
You’ll be experienced in:
  • Leading organisational communications and managing stakeholder relationships – both internally and externally
  • Devising and implementing effective PR strategies using the latest, innovative tactics
  • All facets of PR especially media management, internal communications, Government relations, community relations and crisis communications
  • Providing expert advice and support to the chief executive
  • Managing staff and budgets effectively
 
We are looking for a tertiary qualified PR/communications professional (a degree and/or APR is preferable) with at least 8-10 years experience to take on this role for 12 month to cover for maternity leave. 
 
You’ll be joining a progressive organisation with more than 600 staff, 26,000 students across seven campuses, 300 employer partners and various other stakeholders (including the Government); operating in a rapidly changing, fast-paced sector.
