Located in the small historic town of Akaroa, the Akaroa Museum is a vital part of the Banks Peninsula cultural scene, serving both its local community and visitors by providing professional museum services. The Museum provides a public research facility, runs an active exhibition programme and provides care for a varied and substantial social history collection.

As the Collection Manager, this role will see you being responsible for all aspects of the collection, including facilitating access, documentation, preventive conservation and storage as well as assisting with the selection, preparation & installation of collection items for exhibitions.

We are looking for a practical person with good communication skills, attention to detail, initiative and flexibility.  Ideally you will also have a post-graduate qualification in museum studies and relevant work experience in a museum.

This newly created role provides a rare opportunity to be involved with the re-housing of a substantial museum collection in a new, purpose-built, storage facility.

Additional recruitment information:
Salary: $42,199 to $49,646 per annum plus 5% superannuation
