Creative Napier’s aim is to “enrich and enhance the Creative Spirit of Napier” and we are looking for an Arts Coordinator to plan, promote and implement an ambitious programme of activities to achieve this vision.
 
We are seeking someone who has:
  • A commitment to the arts and a high degree of enthusiasm for, and knowledge about, the arts.  As Arts Coordinator you will need to have a thorough understanding of the local and national arts sector and of key arts organisations, such as Creative New Zealand
  • Excellent people skills – as Arts Coordinator you will be working with a wide range of people from artists to children, to contractors and other arts organisations. Your ability to form positive and lasting relationships will be key to achieving Creative Napier’s goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – as Arts Coordinator you will be expected to promote Creative Napier to the arts sector and raise public awareness of the creative talent Napier has to offer.  A high degree of computer literacy and experience of writing reports, funding applications and media releases will be required
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time-management skills – as Arts Coordinator you will be working on events and activities from inception to delivery and it is vital that you are able to manage your own and others schedules and performance
  • The ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Demonstrable experience working in a similar role.
 
Creative Napier is Napier’s community arts organisation and is funded by the Napier City Council to provide accessible and affordable opportunities for the community to participate in the arts. The person appointed will report to the Creative Napier Board.
 
A twelve month fixed term contract is available with a salary range $20 - $25k dependant on experience and hours worked.
